First National Bank Improves Financial Literacy First National Bank continues to improve financial literacy among children through Wisconsin Bankers Association (WBA) Personal Economics Program (PEP). Started in 1989, the program involves hundreds of bankers who volunteer their time to give consumer education presentations in their communities. In the last year, nearly 700 Wisconsin bank volunteers taught more than 65,000 people of all ages about the basics of money management through the nationally recognized program. WBA supports PEP by providing a resource library of professional produced videos and curriculum materials and an annual training conference and awards ceremony. For the 2005 - 2006 school year, First National Bank had 20 bankers who gave more than 40 presentations, which reached more than 650 students ages 5 to 18. On October 16, 2006, First National Bank earned recognition for their outstanding financial education efforts with an award from the WBA. Each year First National Bank names a PEP Representative of the Year. This representative is someone who shows enthusiasm and truly embraces the PEP Program. This year’s PEP Rep of the Year is Ann Jordan who works at First National Bank’s Grand Avenue Branch location. During the 2005 – 2006 school year, Ann made 18 presentations to middle school students, teaching them the basic understanding of personal finances including saving for their future.
